Avon to wrap up 2012 motorsport activity with Gulf 12 Hours

Avon Tyres has headed east to the iconic Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi after being confirmed as sole tyre supplier to the Gulf 12 Hours race, the final major event of the 2012 endurance racing season.
One of the world’s leading motorsport tyre producers, Avon will provide tyres for all competitors in the four race classes – the sportscar GT3, GT4, GT Cup categories, as well as the prototype LN2 class.
In January this year, Avon supplied tyres for the first Gulf 12 Hours and a close race helped ensure that entry numbers for the event's second running have already surpassed those of the first.
Paul Coates, General Manager of Avon Tyres Motorsport, is looking forward to another successful event at the Emirati Capital, “It's great to be back supporting an event that was such a success back in January. We really enjoyed being part of the first Gulf 12 Hours - the racing was first class and the fact that the top three teams are all returning shows that it should be another close-fought battle.”
Both United Autosports and January winner AF Corse – which recently announced an entry to the 2013 Avon Tyres British GT Championship – are set to return to the grid alongside Team Kessel, which will field three cars. Avelon Motorsport will return to the race with a pair of Wolf GB08 prototypes while Nova Racing is set to make its debut at the event with a Ginetta G50 in the GT4 class.
Track action begins on Wednesday December 12, with both six hour races taking place on Friday December 14.
